Crazy, not sexy, not cool!

A funny/crazy conversation on Saturday night:

Hubby: So are you ready?
Me: Ready for what?
Hubby: Another one?
Me: Another what? (quite confused)
Hubby: Another baby?
Me: Are you crazy? (In retrospect, not how I should have answered) No...I thought we decided (together) that we were just fine with one.
Hubby: Well yes, but she's getting so big. She's not a baby any more.
Me: I know. And another one will also grow up really fast and not be a baby any more. So, let's just forge ahead with this one. She's got enough personality for us to handle!

Is he nuts? He must be joking - right? First of all, springing this on me in such a nonchalant manner. And secondly, we've already decided...we've talked about this and decided that one was just right.

I really don't think I can have another baby. It sounds really selfish of me (I know) but I honestly cannot handle another one. I'm having such a hard time balancing this act and there's only hubby and baby, I can't imagine adding another baby to the mix.

He must have been joking - or has he lost it?

Scene and Heard: Bon Appetit

Scene: In the kitchen. Preparing to make a carrot cake with cream cheese frosting.

Me: "I have a surprise for you for dessert!"
Hubby: "Oooo...How tall is she?"

Dinner tomorrow night might be a knuckle sandwich.

A Manly Man

So last night we had tomato basil soup and cheesy garlic bread for dinner. A perfectly fine (and quick) meal for a chilly fall evening, if you ask me. And, to my surprise, the kids loved it! I mean they sat down and ate their entire meals without a peep (ok, maybe one or two peeps, but not the usual 450). Anyway, while I am heating up the soup on the stove, hubby comes into the kitchen, takes one look at the pot and says: "Are you gonna put anything in that?" Meaning meat. In his mind, no meal is complete without some good old carne . Pizza? Needs sausage and pepperoni. BLT sandwich? Needs turkey or ham. Fettucini Alfredo? Needs chicken. Are you getting the picture?

But the poor dear "toughed it out" last night and ate a vegetarian meal with no complaints. Though he did say: "This would be great with some sausage in it..." and "Imagine how this would taste with pieces of lobster!"

My hubby -- truly a manly man.

Tonight we're having beef.

Scene & Heard 2

Scene:
In the kitchen after dinner.
I open the fridge and a sippy cup of milk falls out and splatters onto the floor.

Me: Doggone it!

Hubby: Did the the lid come loose or did it crack?

Me: It cracked.

Chatterbox: Don't say that Mommy-Daddy! Bad word!

Hubby: What's bad? Crack?

Chatterbox: Yes Daddy!

Hubby: Well, you're right about that - crack IS bad...

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Scene:
In the car on the way to school.
Chatterbox opens her lunchbox to inspect the contents.
Chatterbox: STACEEEY! It's TOO MUCH! Laughs heartily.
Me: [Laughing] Did I give you too much food?
Chatterbox: Yes!
Me: [Looking at the crackers, ham, cheese, strawberries, apple sauce, fruit snacks, juice.]
It's because I love you and I don't want you to be hungry. I guess I did go a bit overboard!
It was so cute I almost cried. Naturally.
Now HE'S In Trouble...
I had my wisdom teeth taken out yesterday. ALL. FOUR. What a positively miserable experience. My dentist was great and all and I even got to watch one of my favorite movies in a virtual headset during the procedure, but really, I'll take childbirth over dental surgery anyday.
Now that my "wisdom" teeth are gone, hubby said "Boy, are we in trouble now!"
He just cracks himself up.
