I'm out!

I got my pink slip yesterday. Whew!!!!! In these troubled times I should be worried, but I am not. In fact, all I could think about was getting a chance to really clean my house and finally spend some good time with my daughter.

For the last year or so I've been so stressed out because of work and I have been really hard on myself because I feel like I don't spend enough time with my daughter - it's so ridiculous that I rush rush rush in the morning and many days I start my day off screaming at her because she's not moving as quickly as I need her to. I don't have time to talk to her teachers to see how she's doing; I definitely don't have time to stop in and visit with the folks at her school. I see her for about 2-3 hours a days (morning and evening combined) and recently I've really felt like this just isn't right. About 3 weeks ago I decided that I needed another job - even if that meant a pay cut - because the role that I was playing just wasn't working out for me. I started looking and putting my feelers out and yesterday they must have gotten hip to my game and terminated my employment first.

So, here I am and I feel FREE!!!!!! I woke up a few minutes later than I usually do and I played with my daughter this morning - played?!?!? Can you imagine????? I got her ready for school and I am now relaxing. This is a blessing - it's actually not even in disguise because I was terribly unhappy for a while. I will find another job and one that will fit - not just professionally, but personally.

Lesson here - everything happens for a reason!

I kid you not - those are the same thoughts I had when I was fired a couple of years ago. "Cool. I'm going to clean the house and pick the kiddo up early so we can hang out."

Not having to go to a job I hated was indeed a blessing.

Enjoy your time with your daughter. And enjoy that right job when it finds you.

OMG, this IS such a blessing. I didn't know how stressed you were about it, even though I knew you were stressed. You have such a good attitude about it and that's awesome. CONGRATS!! The perfect job is waiting.

Enjoy the hours with your daughter -- I'm glad this happened when you already knew something had to change. The investment you'll make with her will pay off for the rest of your life, and there has to be a more sane job out there waiting for you. All the best to you as you search,
Nancy

I just stopped by the blog and was shocked to see this post.

You are absolutely correct in your line of thinking. No job is worth the stress..especially, if you feel you are taking it out on your little angel. Furthermore, the time with her is precious and cannot be replaced. Now, you can enjoy every moment with your wonderful daughter...and hubby of course.

All the best to you. You have the perfect attitude about this situation. Never look back!!!

Congratulations! My BFF Kate is just now going through the same thing and is elated. While I love my job, I could totally see having some great family time with the kids. Enjoy!

i'm actually very happy for you! as long as this situation isn't causing MORE stress for ya. take this time to sloooow down and enjoy your little princess. i am in your (former) boat of rushing in the mornings, seeing my kiddoes for 3 hours a day, etc. so i totally feel your sense of freedom and relief. what a blessing.

What a great attitude! It really reaffirms that family should come first, because your job can drop you just like that, but your family will be there for you. Enjoy the time at home!

I am there with you MamaLaw! I'm an alpha (business woman and mom) and you know what? Listen to that voice inside that has directed you all along to do so well, and the right path follows!

Enjoy! It's a gift. :)

Any situation a woman is in: working w/ kids, stay at home w/ kids, work part time, single, no kids... whatever the situation, I say enjoy and go for it. We're all in this together. And God knows we're hard enough on our selves...so count on lots of support and happiness from your gal-pals.
