I'm AM Too Sexy for a Mini-Van

The time has finally come. We need to trade in my sports sedan for a "family car." It was nice while it lasted, but let's face it - squeezing two toddlers in car seats, a steamer trunk full of toys, sippy cups, diaper bags, assorted snacks, a doublestroller, oh and hubby and I, into my "B.C." (Before Children) car is getting to be a bit much. Having said that, we are going to start test-driving some family-friendly options soon. Do you have any recommendations? Something that can seat at least 7, is reasonably priced and does not scream "Driver-in-Mom Jeans-approaching" m'kay?

I don't want everyone to know that I'm wearing Mom Jeans until I get out of the car.

Ok, a Yukon( or Tahoe-same thing) of course. No, not the Denali, but an XLT. Very reasonable and very comfortable.

Well, sorry Gal...I'm a mini-van mom. Course, I have 4 with the 5th coming soon. I also said I was NEVER going to have a minivan but when my DH said I was getting one anyway and that an SUV was just not cost efficient...I had to agree and accept that a van it would be. So I got a Ford Windstar. Then when I ran it to death, I got another one. And I love it. Its my Lincoln Town Car. LOL It drives so well, smooth and eveything else. And for a family on one income, what could be better? I think they tested the safest in their class as well. I can't remember for sure. Of course, if I had the dough, i would have bought a suburban. I LOVE those things!

AND I don't wear jeans anyway....but if I did, you'd never see me in any that looked like THAT! And I don't have that mommy PUDGE either! LMBO!

Sorry, felt the same as you until I got my Mazda MPV....and now I'm a minivan mom too...I love the flexability of the 3rd row fold into the floor for ore cargo room, or the option to carry another 2 or 3 people.

Come on over to the Dark Side! :)

The video is hilarious. My mother has a few pairs of these. She is 80 and she actually looks pretty cute in them. At 42, People's Liberation and Lucky Brand are still on the top my list

Just say NO to the bus (minivan)! I got a Toyota Sienna in 2004 because I left my corporate job and opened a home daycare and knew I'd need the room for my 2 + the daycare kids. (Prior to that I drove an Explorer)The van has a DVD player, tinted back windows, 1 back passenger door is automatic AND both passenger windows let down pretty far before stopping. It's a great ride, very comfortable for longer trips, but I am so over it, the BUS served it's purpose. I closed the daycare and my own stinkerdoodles are 10 and 4....I want a car. A Camry or some other 4 door sedan...My husband is all about an SUV but with gas being $25 a gallon, he can forget it....

LMAO.

We have had a Honda Odyssey since 2001 (and actually added a Ford Windstar in 2004 when we realized that we were going to have 3 carseats...and dh drives them to daycare every morning), but luckily the Windstar is in its last year or two and then dh is planning on getting a hybrid.

I, however, forecast driving a minivan for at least the next decade. It's the reality with 3 kids.

Seriously, you can be sexy and drive a minivan. I'm sexy as shit. After all, I AM "more than a minivan mom"

:)

That video is truly hilarious. I haven't laughed like that in a while. Where'd you find it?

But onto the real issue, you are moving over to the dark side. You don't need a minivan, unless you're planning on having a few more bambinas. You can totally do it with an SUV!!!!

Oh, friend: I feel your angst. And I'll tell you that in a million years, I never would have believed that line about looking sexy whilst motoring in a minivan. But then I actually MET More Than a Minivan Mom, and seriously? The girl is smokin' hot!

Under duress and deadline, I traded in my still-vaguely-cool Volvo SUV for a Honda Odyssey a few months ago. I'm not suddenly sexy; it's a CAR, after all, not a magic trick, and I could still pass pretty easily for one of the models in that faux Mom Jeans commercial.

However. It IS a car with a pretty spiffy list of features, and I'm at a point in my life where I'm honestly happier to have automatic sliding doors (yes: automatic! sliding! doors!) than a pair of skinny jeans that fit without benefit of Spanx.

But that's just me.

P.S. HEY, Shigeta!

I'm in the same boat. We'll be getting a new car for me as soon as my husband's truck is paid off. I really want a Mini Cooper, but dunno if that would work with the carseats. Love the Mom Jeans video, reminds me of my early Mom days when I wore these gawd-awful Dockers khakis with the stylin' pleats. BTW Brodh2o is our last name ... Brod plus water :)

Don't let Franklin's self-effacing modesty fool you. The girl radiates beauty.

thanks for all the comments! i can appreciate the fabulousness of the minivan. And the fact that you can still be sexy and drive one. Or "sexy as sh*t," rather (which is my new saying, by the way). But I've gotta say that I'm leaning towards the SUV. High gas prices and all. I'll keep y'all posted.

In the meantime ladies, stay sexy.

That video was awful! I laughed and laughed!

I still vote for my Expedition. The gas mileage isn't that bed, no one looks for the mom jeans, and it's roomy!

Do not be a victim of the mom jeans!! I see too many moms out there with them. They should be banned!
