Giddy Laughter on Aisle 3...
Can I just tell you about this wonderful wonderful thing I've found? On Saturday, after we spent the morning watching Hubby's flag football games I took the kids to the grocery store...Right. Around. Naptime. And yes, I know better but I was already out and about and it was sunny out and therefore so was my disposition and I thought "How bad could it be?" And it wasn't! At all. And it's all because of this wonderful little shopping cart that lets two kids ride in their own car attached to the front of your cart. It was my first time using it with both kids and it worked like a charm. There was no screaming. No crying. No kicking. No attempting to jump out of the cart by twisting and turning their way out of the safety belt. No reaching into the cart trying to eat the unwashed grapes. They were happy as larks "driving" the car around the store. The safety belts kept them strapped in and the metal grate beneath their feet kept them from losing their assorted toys that they couldn't leave home with out. This picture doesn't show it but the cart I had even had safety rails that came down on either side so I even felt comfortable putting my 13-month-old in the car.

That thing looks AWESOME! I must find a store near me with one of those magical contraptions.
This is odd. These car buggys have been in Florida since I moved here four years ago. And I even remember seeing them when I lived in D.C. Fergie! Where have you been???!!! Lawyer Mama, they must have this where you live also. Perhaphs you just did not notice them before??
It is interesting that stores have noticed an increase in sales when they use these carts. I know Oldest always requests the store that has this. Walmart does not have these carts, nor Target. But Walmart does have the carts that can hold two babies in the seat (it has four holes for two pairs of legs, bet you never noticed) and Walmart also has the cart that can seat FOUR kids. But at Publix (the South East big grocery chain) has the cars that can hold two and three kids! Bingo!! I hit the jackpot. Two kids in the car and one one in the seat.
Once you got both kids loaded in the front, a cart full of groceries, and your oversized products on the rack below, aren't these things difficult to push??
Kroger has them down here in Alabama, but they are few and far between and you see little old ladies pushing them around with no kids in them. :-( Of course what do you do if you have 4 kids? And with the fifth coming I guess it's back to slinging one! LOL Not that I mind. ;-)
The only place I have seen the buggies that hold two sitting (with the leg holes) is at Sams Club and maybe Costco. No WAY are they at any of the local Walmarts. :-(
About the "bean" cars though...I have a smaller 5 year old and a stocky 4 year old...and they LOVE those cars! Only thing is they are squished in it!
I can't use that car. The store by me has very narrow checkout aisles and you can't get in front or in the back to unload. You can't reach into the cart! I found that out the hard way one day.
LM - Magical they are...
Jones - When you were in D.C. I didn't have kids...so I probably never noticed them :) And my neighborhood grocery doesn't have them, so I hadn't seen one before last year.
Jazzy - it wasn't hard to push at all. But then again, I have Supermommy strength. You'll have it too one day, my friend :)
Jenibeans - same here. I've only seen the 2-kid buggys at Costco. And 5 kids? Just order your groceries online and call it a day :)
Schmitty - sorry to hear that! I didn't have any problems reaching into the cart. do they have a handicap aisle? those are usually wider.
I love these too. Unfortunately, the ones at the commissary on base have gotten so extremely nasty that I won't even let my kids touch them now. I've complained to no avail.
They are great products and I would love to hug the neck of the woman who created it. ;)
Michelle
Yep, I bet it was woman who created it.
