Home Depot DREAM Giftcard Giveaway!

Here it is ladies - the perfect justification to your husband as why you "spend so much time on the doggone computer, blogging with people you don't even know" (or is it just my hubby that gives me a hard time?) Trust me, the man in your life will surely think that all your hours on the Web are totally worth it once you tell him you've won a $50 gift card to The Home Depot! Why, it's Christmas in February.

Through February 28, The Home Depot is offering a commemorative “Dream” gift card celebrating the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. When shoppers purchase the collector’s edition “Dream” gift card, The Home Depot will donate 5% of all sales to the Center for Civil and Human Rights, up to $1 million dollars. The donation will assist in the building of a permanent exhibition home for his personal writings and papers. How amazing is that?

About the King Papers: The collection of original documents by Dr. King includes more than 10,000 items, among them 7,000 handwritten notes spanning from 1946 to 1968. They include drafts of his "I Have a Dream" speech, his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," other theological writings and his Nobel Peace Prize addresses. The King Papers will be part of the exhibition offering of The Center for Civil and Human Rights. The Dream cards can be purchased at any store, or online.

I have to say that I am impressed with The Home Depot - not only with their commitment to Black History, but also with their willingness to be so generous with their donations during this time of economic crisis. For your chance to win, just leave us a comment telling us what you would do with a $50 gift card to "The Depot" (as my hubby calls it - we're there entirely too often). For extra entries you can (1) Tweet or Facebook this giveaway and/or (2) blog about it. Just make sure to come back and let us know that you've done so. Good luck!

Giveaway ends at midnight on Monday, February 23, 2009.

Okay, I hate being first but if I win I will be buying some paint for our bedroom. It is high time to add some paint to these barren walls.

I am in the process of painting the interior of our house. We recently moved and the previous owners were trying to be nice and decided to paint over any spots on the walls and it shows. Either the paitn was already to dirty or they used the wrong color but you can see where they did the touch up. So my card would go for paint.

I wouldn't mind getting some plants to liven up the place. And hopefully not kill them. Will be back after I tweet the contest!

If I won I would use the money to buy paint for the new condo we just moved into, and, I saw a DIY thing online of how to make a cat climber (You make it out of wood and carpet) and I REALLY want to make one for my little kitties!

We lost a garbage can last week. No great loss since it was a battered, tired-looking receptacle. I could use two new ones and I'd love one of those fancy cans with the hinged lid, wheels, and big enough to hold a Buick.

I'd buy wood blinds, or some decent window treatment. We moved into our house in August, and the master bedroom still has the black garbage bags taped up with green painters tape, that we put up that first night! And the girls' rooms have vertical blinds with weights and chains, circa 1960! Thank you.

Oh this is great all-around. I'm impressed with Home Depot. My hubby is there at least 2-3 times a month so this would be used immediately!

My house is a work in progress. We need everything: drawer pulls, new light fixtures, new toilets, pendant lights, etc. etc.

Aargh -- we've been needing to replace our back storm door for about 6 months. That's what I'd use it for. :o)

We've definitely gone through periods of time where we're at Home Depot at least twice a weekend. I'm looking to expand my garden this spring, so would use the gift card to purchase soil amendments and wood for edging.

Well, I would hand it directly to my husband. He always has some sort of crazy project he's working on. He's currently thinking about trying to electrocute himself with some plan he has for the basement lights.

Oh, I am at Home Depot every other day, it seems! I posted about your giveaway on Facebook. My hubby started fixing our toilet, and now it leaks, so I could really use a card to finish up that project. Ah, the life of a work-at-home mom... mother, professional, handyman...
